Should you stay visible when fully booked as a Virtual Assistant?

You will find yourself fully booked at some point in your Virtual assistant journey.

Yep, really!

There may be times when that feels unlikely, and it can feel disheartening to follow people on socials who talk regularly of being booked up. But, remember everyone’s definition of being at capacity is different, so don’t pay much attention to those who shout about being fully booked online!

Being fully booked simply means that you are at YOUR capacity and unable to take on new clients. However, that does not mean you should stop being visible in your business or stop letting potential clients know you exist! This is the optimal time to let people know about your business.

Remember, clients come and go. You may find yourself working with a less-than-ideal client (see my blog ‘Knowing when to part ways with a mis-aligned client’ if this applies to you), or if you have clients working with you on an ad-hoc basis they may disappear for months at a time, and sometimes, clients will give notice, just because that's what happens!

It is important to keep your potential client pipeline growing. Have you had people tell you they may want to work with you in the future? Great! Ensure you stay visible, whether that is by commenting on their posts, sending them a quick message, or talking to them at a networking event; it’s about whatever works best for you.

This is also where planning ahead with your marketing really comes into play. If you are regularly posting on your socials, or sending out your newsletters whilst you are fully booked then potential clients will be made aware of you and the work you provide. If you attend networking events, it can be understandable to want to pull back on them when you are fully booked, but being visible to potential clients here is key to keeping your business running smoothly.

If you are consistently marketing yourself you may be approached about potential work that you don’t have the capacity to take on. If so, ask yourself if this is the time to expand your business by taking associates on. You can read more about this process here.
